Dungeons and Dragons

Post by Molly on Mon Feb 07, 2011 10:55 pm

Does anyone else play D&D? It gets such a bad reputation... I even stayed away from it because I thought it was too geeky for me. But I started about a year ago and I'm hooked. Everyone should try it, it is the best.

I'm a ranger half-elf, and I'm pretty much amazing. Smile

Online version, I guess? I don't even really know what it's about enough to make a judgement. Care to enlighten me?

Basically it's like one of those choose your own adventure books... except way cooler. The "dungeon master" describes the scene, npcs, etc, and then the players can do literally whatever they want. Obviously there are a ton of rules of the world you need to follow, but besides that it's pretty much free reign.

When I play we use a table with a grid on which the dungeon master (my brother in one campaign, me in another) draws the landscape where we are, and then we have little characters we move around.

It's like a video game in your imagination. Except way cooler than that sounds. Razz

Like a matt with a grid on it? I'm sure you could. I made my own though. You buy little figures though, and tons of books and stuff.

You definitely should! It can be pretty tricky if you aren't starting out with a seasoned dungeon master, but I can teach one of you how to dm sometime.

I definitely used to play Runescape too! I guess dnd is kinda like that. It's usually set in the same kind of world with similar quests and stuff.
